The Great American IN Nature Resource Project (GAIN RP)

What is the Great American IN Nature Resourse Project?

GAIN RP is our third statewide community project, which is intended to create a comprehensive list of natural history and science resources geared for both personal collections and wider educational distribution. These dynamic, web-based resource catalogs, will be stored in our brand new resource page.

What is the Purpose of GAIN RP?

Continuing to build upon our foundation of community involvement, the purpose of GAIN RP is to create an extensive catalog of resources to help those looking to expand their knowledge-base and reference collections. The GAIN RP will provide a platform for Hoosiers to share resources which have contributed to their own environmental education journey in hopes of encouraging more people to do the same.

What types of materials are included in the project?

Typical resources include, but are not limited to books, PDF files, pamphlets, spreadsheets, websites, and various types of multimedia. Resources that focus on Indiana topics, flora, fauna, and ecosystem are preferred, however, regional references are also welcomed. Inspirational stories and biographical books pertaining to influential leaders in the field will also be included.

How will the project proceed?

The first category of resources to be assembled for GAIN RP is botany. As the project progresses, additional categories relevant to regional environmental education and conservation will be announced.

Who Can Be Involved?

Anyone who has come across a book, website, podcast, public PDF file, or other resources and is willing to share more about it is encouraged to participate. Likewise, those looking for more information regarding what resources have shaped members of our IN Nature community will find this project helpful.
