Etymology

Agonopterix: Combines the Greek agon, meaning “contest” or “an assembly,” and pterix, meaning “wing.”

robiniella: Named for the genus of one of the caterpillar's host plants, locusts (Robinia spp.). The suffix ella means “small.”
